On-line Registration

Please read the following general instructions before going into the registration link located at the end of this page.

The University of South Florida in conjunction with the Universidad de Aquino Bolivia, (UDABOL), under the main sponsorship of the National Science Foundation, (NSF), and with the support of the Ibero American Science and Technology Educational Consortium, (ISTEC), are pleased to invite you to participate in the Pan-American Advanced Studies Institutes Program (PASI). The PASI is titled “Internship on Rapid System Prototyping Technologies with Focus on Digital Signal Processing, Artificial Neural Networks, Communications, Instrumentation and Control Systems”, which is to be held at the Universidad de Aquino Bolivia, Cochabamba - Bolivia from June 7th to June 19th, 2004.

The primary objective of the PASI Institute is to offer, within the scope of the theory presented, applications that are related to the Pan-American region. In addition the Institute will serve as a forum to foster collaborative research among the participants in areas such as Digital Signal Processing, Electronic Design Automation, Neural Networks, Telecommunications, Instrumentation and Process Control. The vision of this PASI Institute is that the participants will return to their home institutions and incorporate the acquired knowledge into their curricula and research programs. To facilitate this task, all the electronic material developed for the Institute such as course content, laboratories and course supportive materials will be available at http://istec.eng.usf.edu.

A certificate of completion will be issued on June 19, 2004. In order to obtain this certificate participants must attend and actively participate in all the Institute’s sessions.
Funding to support a limited number of students in the Americas is available that will include travel expenses, double occupancy lodging and meals. Preference will be given to participants who meet the following criteria:


College/University professors from teaching Universities within the United States and Latin American Institutions.
Professors submitting a statement letter from their College’s Dean supporting the applicant’s plans to integrate the acquired knowledge into the existing curricula and or research programs. This letter must be in English, which will be the official language of the institute.
Participants from institutions fully supporting additional applicants. A letter from the institution must be e-mailed with the name of the additional participants that the institution is committed to fully support.
Professors who are willing to contribute during the Institute with a presentation related to the above technical areas.
Graduate students with interests in the Pan American Region. A letter must be e-mailed stating the participant's interest and links to the region.
Industry participants may attend the workshop by covering their own expenses and a registration fee of $ 750.00. Limited seats are available for the PASI.

Registration

The institute will cover travel, hotel and meal expenses to selected participants. These expenses will cover the period from June 6 to June 20, 2004.

Participants are responsible for securing proper visa and vaccinations requirements by the host country, (Bolivia).
Each participant is required to obtain their own personal or institutional health insurance covering him/her during the duration of the Institute.
Selected participants will be contacted by April 15, 2004. A complete information package will be sent via e-mail to all candidates selected along with an official acceptance letter that can be used for securing a Bolivian visa.
